Questions & answers
The things people ask.
Everything from “is it really every review five stars?” to “what does NAPIT approved actually mean for me?” — in the order you'd likely ask them.
About JS Electrical
01Who is JS Electrical?
JS Electrical is Jack Stacey, a Bishop's Stortford electrician trading as J Stacey Electrical Limited since 2010. It's a one-owner business — you deal with Jack directly — and it's NAPIT approved, TrustMark registered and fully insured with AXA. The Google record is 5.0 from 85 reviews, every one of them five stars.
Is it really every review five stars?
Yes. Across 85 Google reviews there isn't a single rating below five stars, and there hasn't been in fifteen years of trading. Reviewers name Jack personally and use the same words again and again: professional, tidy, reliable, and work done properly.
What area do you cover?
Bishop's Stortford (CM23) and the Hertfordshire and Essex villages around it — Sawbridgeworth, Stansted Mountfitchet, Great Dunmow, Much Hadham, Hatfield Heath and beyond. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just call or text and ask.
Booking & on the day
02How do I arrange a job?
Call or text Jack on 07965 805535, email jack@jselectrical.org.uk, or send a WhatsApp. Because it's a one-man business, you talk to the person doing the work from the very first message — no call centre, no being passed around.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday 8am–6pm, Saturday 8am–12pm, closed Sunday. You can still text or WhatsApp Jack outside those hours and he'll come back to you.
Will Jack turn up when he says he will?
Yes — reliability and punctuality are two of the things customers mention most in their reviews. One reviewer called him "completely reliable, flexible and great to have around the house." A day and rough time are agreed when the job is booked.
Will you make a mess?
No. "Kept everything tidy" and "his work was really tidy" come straight from the reviews. Jack treats your home the way he'd want his own treated and clears up properly before he leaves.
Credentials & standards
03What does NAPIT approved actually mean for me?
NAPIT is a UKAS-accredited competent-person scheme. Being approved means Jack's work is assessed against the national wiring standard (BS 7671) and he can self-certify notifiable domestic work to Building Regulations Part P — so you don't pay for a separate building-control inspection.
What is TrustMark and why does it matter?
TrustMark is the Government-endorsed quality scheme for tradespeople. Registration is an independent check that the business behind the work is genuine, insured and working to recognised standards — extra reassurance on top of the NAPIT approval.
Are you insured?
Yes — fully insured through AXA with £1 million professional indemnity and £5 million public liability cover, in place on every job.
Will I get certificates for the work?
Yes. Depending on the job you'll receive an installation certificate, a minor works certificate, or an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). It's your written proof the work meets current regulations.
Services & certificates
04Do you carry out EICRs?
Yes. Electrical Installation Condition Reports are a core part of what JS Electrical does — for homeowners wanting peace of mind and for landlords meeting their legal duties. You get a thorough assessment and a properly detailed report, with any findings explained clearly.
Can you install an EV charge point?
Yes — from survey through to certification, including cable routing and the connection back to your consumer unit. Jack fits the leading home chargers such as myenergi Zappi and Pod Point, and can sort meter or supply-side work at the same time.
Can you upgrade my fuse board or consumer unit?
Yes. Jack replaces older fuse boards with current-standard consumer units carrying the RCD protection the regulations now require, tested and certified on completion. Meter-side work can be handled alongside.
What LED lighting can you do?
The full range — recessed downlights, concealed cove and strip lighting, backlit mirrors, ceiling fans with lights, and exterior and garden schemes. LED lighting to transform a space with better ambiance and function, wired in cleanly and neatly.
Do you do small jobs and fault finding?
Yes. Extra sockets, cooker connections, extractor fans, smoke-alarm hard-wiring, a light that's stopped working, a circuit that keeps tripping — Jack traces faults to their cause and puts them right, and no job is too small to do properly.
Quotes & getting in touch
05How do I get a quote?
Send Jack the details — call, text, WhatsApp a photo of the job, or use the contact form. One reviewer noted the quote was competitive and came with genuinely helpful advice; that's how it starts, before any work begins.
How quickly will you get back to me?
Jack aims to reply as quickly as he can. For anything urgent, a call or text is always fastest.
